October Striped Bass - Hot, Hot, Hot

Fishing Report - End of October

It figures we get Sandy, just when the fishing really starts to heat up. I was out for a quick trip and bailed the bass and bluefish. All the bass were in the same size range - 36" to 39" and close to 20lbs. In fact, weighed in two of the bass at Fisherman's HQ and both were 19lb 5oz. Most of the bass were caught while ultra-slow trolling bunker spoons.

The blues were very active, and switched to target them on the 9wt fly rod with sinking line. The fly of choice was a rainfish imitation surf candy, in which 13-15lb blues devoured and put up battles lasting longer than 10minutes. Had to leave them biting to haul out the boat prior to Sandy's arrival.

Unfortunately, I had to cancel both of my Saturday and Sunday trips in preparation for the coastal storm. The biomass of bait, bluefish, and bass was absolutely astounding - hopefully the storm does not push them too far offshore. I still a few November dates available - please my cell 609-290-7709 if interested.
