Took a buddy after work - only had a narrow 2 hour window to fish due to a prior obligation - tried some of the favorite early season spots - ended with a nice, fat 21in fluke and shorts. Very tough conditions - snot grass, 15++ knot winds, and a cold incoming tide. Speaking about early season fluke - I was on 97.3 ESPN radio "Rack and Fin" show last weekend and was asked by ESPN host Tom P. to do a seminar on Early Season Fluke Tactics at the Sportsmen's Center in Bordentown-NJ. The seminar will be on Wednesday - May 29 (7pm - 9pm) - it is a free seminar and will feature door prizes, etc.
Striped Bass fishing has been pretty good with most of the fish being caught on trolling Maja bunker spoons out front or anchoring up in the bay. This week should warm up the bay waters to elevate the fluke's activity - the key is to fish the outgoing with the warmer water draining. I do have some trips available for striped bass and/or fluke for the upcoming weekends or weekday afternoons - if interested give me a shout. I will be targeting fluke on the falling tides during the next couple of weekends and weekday afternoons, and starting June 21 - I will run charters/open-boat trips 7 days a week until Labor Day. See you out there. www.reelreactioncharters.com
