Mark Miller & Travis Davis - Bay Fluking

Another busy week for us - the fluking in the Barnegat Bay area has been amazing.  The quality of the fish this year is astounding - lots of nice fish being boxed.  The key is to fish the incoming tidal currents with the cooler ocean water.  This is my favorite time of year as I will be targeting some of the inshore spots that harbor these jumbo size flatties as the they move out.  I had Mark Miller of Elkton, MD and Travis Davis of Elkton, MD to meet these fluke on their way out.  And boy, did we meet them.  The team ended the 4 hour trip with 9 keeper fluke, with the biggest taping out over 6 lbs.  Travis was out for his first-ever fluking, and ended up be the high and heavy hook catching the most and the biggest fluke.  Great job to Mark and Travis - look forward to seeing you again.  All fish were caught on our custom bay bucktail rigs.  Unfortunately during midweek, I had to pull the boat to upgrade one of my high definition transducers - but thankfully Lowrance sent the part up quickly and the boat is back in the water.  Thursday's blow was a wash and ended in a cancellation.  This upcoming week I have 3 trips booked (bay and ocean) and have 2 openings available.  This week's The Fisherman magazine cover photo has wife holding 5 and 6lb fluke caught in Barnegat Bay - I also authored an article which may help you put more fish in the box. There is word that the tuna/bonita bite has picked up, so if weather/sea permitting we may be sailing offshore.  We have all required safety gear in addition to EPIRB, RADAR, GPS, VHF/GPS radio - safety is upmost concern when traveling offshore. If interested in a bay, ocean trip, or offshore trip - please book through the website (
